Prayer is the second commandment after monotheism of Allah

The first priority of prayer, prayer is the second commandment after affirming/monumenting Allah.

Allah Ta’ala says,

وَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ حُنَفَاءَ وَيُقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَذَلِكَ دِينُ الْقَيِّمَةِ

“Even though they were not ordered except to worship Allah by purifying obedience to Him in (practicing) a straight religion, and so that they perform prayers and pay zakat; and that is the straight religion.” (QS. Al Bayyinah: 5)

Shalat Adalah Perintah Kedua Setelah Mentauhidkan Allah

Keutamaan shalat yang pertama, shalat adalah perintah kedua setelah mengesakan/mentauhidkan Allah.

Allah Ta’ala berfirman,

وَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ حُنَفَاءَ وَيُقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَذَلِكَ دِينُ الْقَيِّمَةِ

“Padahal mereka tidak disuruh kecuali supaya menyembah Allah dengan memurnikan ketaatan kepada-Nya dalam (menjalankan) agama yang lurus, dan supaya mereka mendirikan shalat dan menunaikan zakat; dan yang demikian itulah agama yang lurus.” (QS. Al Bayyinah: 5)
