Lalu kawannya membujuk La Dana agar ia mengurungkan niatnya.
Sekali lagi kawannya membujuk.

BUFFALO BACK LEGS (Indonesian Folklore from South Sulawesi)
La Dana is a farmer’s child from Toraja Land who is known for being clever.
But unfortunately his intelligence is often used to trick his friends.
One day, La Dana and her friends were invited to attend a death party.
It is a custom in Toraja that every guest will receive buffalo meat.
La Dana was given the hind leg of a buffalo.
Meanwhile, his friend received almost all parts of the buffalo, except for the hind legs.
Then La Dana suggested to his friend to combine the meat and exchange it for a live buffalo.
The reason is so they can grow the animal until it is fat before slaughtering it.
They were lucky because the proposal was accepted by the host.
A week after that, La Dana started to get impatient waiting for his buffalo to get fat.
He went to his friend’s house, where the buffalo was kept, and said, “Let’s slaughter this animal, I want to eat its meat.”
His friend answered, “Wait until the animal is fat.”
Then La Dana suggested, “We should just cut off my part, and you can keep the buffalo next.”
His friend thought that if the buffalo’s hind legs were cut off, it would die.
Then his friend persuaded La Dana to give up his plans.
He promised to give the buffalo’s front leg to La Dana.
Seven days later, La Dana came again and asked again to have her share cut.
Once again his friend persuaded him.
He was promised parts of the buffalo’s body, as long as La Dana was willing to postpone his intention.
Just a few days later, La Dana had returned to her friend’s house.
He again asked that the animal be slaughtered.
This time his friend was impatient, he said angrily, “Why don’t you just take this buffalo! Don’t come to bother me anymore,” La Dana went home happily, bringing the buffalo home. ***
Moral Message: Intelligence is useless if it is used for bad things.
