Ada dua ekor tikus yang bersahabat.

Bernama Tikus Kota dan Tikus Desa.

Seperti namanya, Tikus Kota tinggal di kota, sedangkan Tikus Desa tinggal di desa.

Suatu hari, Tikus Kota berkunjung ke rumah Tikus Desa.

Ia bercerita banyak tentang kehidupan di kota yang serba enak dan tidak perlu bekerja keras.

Setelah mendengar cerita Tikus Kota seperti itu, Tikus Desa jadi ingin ikut mencoba pergi ke kota.

“Dengan senang hati, aku akan mengajakmu tinggal di rumahku di kota,” kata Tikus Kota.

Pada awalnya, memang Tikus Desa sangat kagum dan senang tinggal bersama Tikus Kota.

Tapi kemudian, ternyata, Tikus Kota itu tinggal di sebuah rumah orang kaya.

Pantas saja di rumah itu selalu tersedia makanan dan minuman serba enak yang melimpah.

Namun, setiap saat kehidupan mereka selalu terancam dengan seekor kucing besar dan pemilik rumah yang siap menerkam dan menangkap mereka.

Setelah berpikir panjang, Tikus Desa kemudian berkata kepada Tikus Kota.

“Di desa, aku mencari makanan sendiri, tanpa harus mencuri seperti ini. Memang lebih capek dan makanannya sederhana dan sedikit. Tapi, di desa hidupku jauh lebih aman dan bahagia.”

Esoknya, Tikus Desa pun kembali ke desa.

Sejak saat itu, ia tak lagi tergoda dengan kesenangan di kota.***

Pesan Moral

Lebih baik hidup sederhana, tapi kehidupan aman.

The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse (Aesop’s Fable)

There are two friendly rats.

Named City Mouse and Country Mouse.

As the name suggests, the City Mouse lives in the city, while the Country Mouse lives in the village.

One day, the Town Mouse visited the Country Mouse’s house.

He talked a lot about life in a city where everything is comfortable and you don’t have to work hard.

After hearing the story of the Town Mouse like that, the Country Mouse wanted to go to the city too.

“I’d be happy to invite you to stay at my house in town,” said the Town Mouse.

At first, the Country Mouse was really amazed and happy to live with the City Mouse.

But then, as it turned out, the Town Mouse lived in a rich man’s house.

No wonder the house always has plenty of delicious food and drinks available.

However, every moment their life is always threatened by a big cat and the owner of the house who is ready to pounce and catch them.

After much thought, the Country Mouse then said to the City Mouse.

“In the village, I find my own food, without having to steal like this. It’s more tired and the food is simple and small. But, in the village my life is much safer and happier.”

The next day, the Village Mouse returned to the village.

Since then, he was no longer tempted by the pleasures of the city. ***

It’s better to live a simple, but safe life.
